License Activation Guide

Activating your VisioLayer Pro license is essential to unlock automatic updates, premium templates, and official support. This guide covers everything you need to know about managing your license.

1. Finding Your License Key

After purchasing VisioLayer Pro, your license key is sent to you via email and is also available in your account.

  • Email: Check your inbox for the "Purchase Receipt" email.
  • Account Dashboard:
    1. Log in to the VisioLayer Customer Portal.
    2. Go to the "Licenses" tab.
    3. Copy the alphanumeric key (e.g., VL-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX).

2. Activating Your License

To register your plugin within WordPress:

  1. Log in to your WordPress Dashboard.
  2. Navigate to VisioLayer > License.
  3. Paste your key into the "Purchase Code" field.
  4. Click the "Activate Key" button.

What Happens After Activation?

Once the green "Active" status appears, you instantly gain access to:

  • Automatic Updates: Update to the latest version directly from the Plugins page.
  • Template Library: Import any of the 200+ Pro templates.
  • Add-On Installation: Install premium add-ons like Whiteboard and Particles.
  • Verified Support: Open expedited tickets with our support team.

3. License Limits & Restrictions

Your license differs based on the plan you purchased:

  • Personal Plan: Valid for 1 Site.
  • Business Plan: Valid for 3 Sites.
  • Agency Plan: Valid for Unlimited Sites.

Note: Localhost environments (e.g., localhost, .test, .local, staging.*) do not count toward your site limit. Rest easy while developing!

4. Deactivating & Transferring Licenses

Moving a site or changing domains? You can transfer your license easily.

Method A: Deactivate from WordPress (Recommended)

  1. Go to VisioLayer > License on the old site.
  2. Click the "Deactivate License" button.
  3. The key is now free to use on a new domain.

Method B: Remote Deactivation

If you deleted the old site without deactivating:

  1. Log in to your VisioLayer Customer Portal.
  2. Go to "Manage Sites".
  3. Find the old URL in the list and click "Remove Site".
  4. The activation slot is instantly released.

5. Troubleshooting & Error Messages

If activation fails, check these common error codes:

Error: "Invalid Purchase Code"

  • Cause: Typo in the key or copying a receipt number instead of the license key.
  • Fix: Ensure you are copying the key starting with VL- exactly as shown in your account.

Error: "Connection Failed"

  • Cause: Your server cannot talk to our licensing server (api.visiolayer.com).
  • Fix: Ask your hosting provider to whitelist api.visiolayer.com and ensure cURL is enabled in PHP.

Error: "Activation Limit Reached"

  • Cause: You have activated the key on more sites than your plan allows.
  • Fix: Deactivate an old site (see section 4) or purchase a license upgrade for more slots.

Error: "Please Enter a Valid Key"

  • Cause: Whitespace was copied along with the key.
  • Fix: clear the field and paste the key again, ensuring no spaces before or after.
